Do you love the 4th of July and wish there were a huge, day-long event on the 4th going on somewhere? There is. It’s in West Burlington, and it’s the big one – the area’s premiere 4th of July celebration.
Most of the fun happens in uptown West Burlington along Broadway Street between Wheeler Street and Mount Pleasant Street -- from the morning pancake breakfast at the firehouse to bingo going on inside an air-conditioned City Hall – with a stage and musical entertainment set up right in the middle of it all -- the intersection of Broadway and Wheeler – plus other fun, food, beads and bags, parades, patriotic praise services, jump-for-fun inflatables, bike races, bullfrog races, car, truck, race car, and cycle displays, craft and vendor booths, and of course, an incredible, J&M fireworks display at 10:01pm.
Amazingly, admission to this spectacular event has remained free of charge. Donations are always welcomed though. (The pancake breakfast is a free-will donation. Bingo is 50 cents a card per game with half being paid out to winners and half benefitting the local Lions Club.)
The times listed at the top of the page really are correct. The entire day really does run from 6:30 in the morning until 11:30 at night.
The New Mix 107.3 will be broadcasting live from just outside the firehouse during the morning's pancake breakfast! (As a bonus, Landon won't even ask you to be on the radio while you eat!)
