Most of us sleep with a phone within arms reach. Why do we do it…because we can. It’s convenient. After all, if you can’t sleep why not troll Facebook, post a meme, watch a food making video. Then you fall asleep…and here is where the trouble can begin.
According to a new study sleep texting happens more often thank you think. 25% of all people end up sending a sleep text. The largest number of people who do this are college students. The best part is of that 25% who do it, 70% don’t remember doing it.
Why does this happen? Sleep deprivation. Back in 2011, we learned that the majority of people get less than 7 hours of sleep and as such, they are more likely to micro-sleep (you are sleeping, but can function as though you are awake).
