That’s right, every year on Sept. 12 the Nerdery celebrates National Video Game Day…otherwise know to most parents as Thursday.
In case you were wondering, what makes this day so special: in a nutshell, a survey of 1,000 people has found the following:

If that doesn’t fill you with surprised looks, how about Best Video Game Franchises (a.k.a. Another video game that the kids have to get because it is part of a “series” of games:

If you are wondering, how much time do REAL gamers spend on their consoles:
- 31% said Every Day
- 31% say Rarely
- 23% said 2 to 3 times a week (I call B.S.)
Moms, Dads and fellow Americans, you aren’t left out of this survey. Just because you don’t have a console, doesn’t mean you are off the hook on this special day. Admit it. You have a phone and you play games on it. Even in the days of flip phones, we played mine sweeper and a poker. Now we know how much and why the rest of us are playing video games:
