Looks like this study is having a real world effect on work attire. The Mayor of Lancaster, CA has cited the study outlined below as a reason to no longer require ties on the job
Researchers at University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein in Germany conducted a study of 15 men who wear ties. The researchers took the men’s vitals before they put the tie on and then they asked each person to tie a Windsor Knot. When this was done, another check of the men’s vitals was done.
The results: a necktie cuts off blood flow by 7.5%
Why is this happening? The tie cuts off the blood flow to the brain by putting pressure on the cerebral vessels that transport blood to the brain.
I guess the good part is that smoker, the elderly and people with high blood pressure have more risks than wearing a tie.
On the flip side, in 2015 there was a study done that said if you wear a suit, you feel more powerful…and with a suit comes a tie.
But still, I have always said that the purpose of wearing a tie is pull your head out of your *** at the end of the day.
