It’s a bird!
It’s a fish!
It’s a…wait a minute! What is it?
According to anglers in China, they caught a fish that has a bird’s head. As this story has developed, the internet has made a lot of comparisons of the head of this fish to a pigeon, parakeet, parrot and a number of other feathered friends. Someone even asked if the head could be that of a dolphin.
While it looks like and odd mismatch, or hybrid, it looks like even mother nature has a sense of humor, as scientists have said this is just a deformed carp. So how could this happen?
Sadly, International Union for Conservation of Nature has said that this is a result of pollution, as this isn’t an uncommon occurrence in China. The reason, according to scientist, the lack of oxygen in the water can cause a deformity while the embryo is in the egg. Even in humans, lack of oxygen can create problem births, if not death.
After the fish was caught and recorded for the internet to examine, it was released back into the water.
While I am not one to preach about conservation, it is a good reminder to all of us to be good stewards to the earth.
