Details are still coming in from the accident, but a Southwest Airlines jet was leaving New York’s LaGuardia airport for Dallas, TX and had to make an emergency landing in Philadelphia, as part of one engines came apart mid-flight throwing shrapnel toward the plane, breaking on window. A passenger was partially sucked out of the window and was rescued by other passengers. Her injuries are critical, as news is reporting at this time. The plane’s engine was on fire and sent ash and a burning smell throughout the plane during the remainder of the flights.
Why this happened will be under investigation for quite some time. However, the passengers were safely deplaned without having to use the inflatable slides.
