You’ve probably heard that term once or twice before .. ‘Pay It Forward’. Most of the time, it can be as simple as a ‘thank you’ or holding the door open for somebody else, maybe carrying the groceries for someone. Usually, we hear it in the drive thru line when we find out somebody in front of paid for our meal.
It’s as simple as this random act at a Walmart in Ankeny, Iowa on Saturday. A woman by the name of Alana says she was waiting impatiently in line to buy her supplies for St. Patrick’s Day.
She says she saw two men in front of her, one older and one younger. The younger man said to the elder, “Sir, I’m paying for your items because you paid by serving my country and I’m grateful for you.”
The veteran was dumbfounded by something as simple as paying for a bill. It makes you think, “are most veterans NOT shown the appreciate they most certainly deserve?”
Not only that, but I think this event is a testament that a small, simple, random act of kindness can go much further than one would think. Hopefully, you can find a way to pay it forward today.
There I was caught in the rush of life yesterday at Walmart Ankeny. Annoyed I was standing in a line, God forbid I wait…
