It’s unfortunate you hear too much about pets, dogs especially, being left out in the cold. Even when it’s below zero, animal control offices get a disturbing amount of calls of animals stranded outside.
The Saginaw County Animal Control in Saginaw, Michigan know what those calls are like. A few of their officer agreed to band together and raise awareness for such injustice. They’ve decided to sleep in doghouses outside themselves.
This Friday, several officers will sleep from 6pm to 8am Saturday morning in a specially constructed dog house, but one that provides the same protection as it would to a dog, nonetheless. One officer is actually going to sleep in the elements with no housing.
Another officer, Officer Guerrero, will have his police canine in the shelter with him and the entire event will be on Facebook Live.
The whole purpose of sleeping the night away like a poor, forgotten dog is to bring it to owners’ attentions: BRING YOUR ANIMAL INSIDE!
Local students will be there to help and work on a project for class.
