This past summer the St. Louis Police Department decided to try a new method of catching criminals via social media…with a sense of humor. They have taken to Facebook and posted some of the criminals still at large and have creatively made some posts that have gotten some social media attention. The great part this tactic has made some of their posts go viral with re-tweets and reposts. As you will see, this is catching on with other Police Departments around the St. Louis area.
But even though the criminals are being called out wearing “jorts” and Men’s Health Quarterly models, they are also poking fun at themselves, which has helped with the department’s perception in the area.
Recently, the STL PD has taking down their comment for this picture, but it orignally said,
“Next @MensHealthMag cover boy or @vidalsassoon model? Nope, he stuck a gun in a clerk’s face at a 7-11. Call us if you recognize this upstanding citizen.”
Here are a few of their selected “greatest hits”
