I love moving into a new neighborhood and setting my my WiFi. I like to be creative and come up with names for my router, like “Cookie Monster’s Jar” or “Police Surveillance” or “Porn Hub”. However, my WiFi Hot Spot is something I try not to be too cute with, after all, it is used in public places that could cause issues with some people.
Then there is this guy who decided to fire up his WiFi Hot Spot on a place and it caused such a stir, they had to divert the plane.
Turkish Airlines was on a flight from Nairobi to Istanbul, while the airline has has a number of issues making it one of the scariest airlines to travel with. They have had crashes and pilot errors, but this one was a passenger who decided to name his WiFi Hot Spot “Bomb on Board”. While may people with sick senses of humor will think this is funny, the other passengers and the pilot did not. As a result of passengers seeing this, the airline (with it’s reputation) made the choice to make a detour to Sudan.
Security determined the WiFi name was created while the plane was in the air, but nothing bad was attached to it, except for a bad joke.
So, tonight, when you get home, check the WiFi names around you. I think you will get a good laugh out of what people have named their routers. Just don’t use the word “bomb” on your Host Spot.
