As we all know the holidays can be hectic. We have to make plans for parties, we have family and/or friends coming over, you are going somewhere and need a quick something for the pot-luck, so what do you do? Maybe, you are doing the holidays by yourself and just don’t want to put forth the effort of making a big spread for one.
There is help from Salt and Straw Creamery…and you can have it delivered to your house and you have not only saved your holiday meals, but you have just consolidated your food and, now, don’t have to choose what to make.
Here is the deal, as you may have figured out by the company name, Salt and Straw Creamery is an ice cream maker. The have decided to create your favorite and traditional Thanksgiving foods into ice cream and they are calling it their November Seasonal Flavors line. Sounds like a great idea, right…but wait, here are your choices. Some sound OK, other sound atrocious.
- Sweet Potato Casserole with Maple Pecans
- Buttered Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
- Apple Cranberry Stuffing
- Salted Caramel Thanksgiving Turkey
- Spiced Goat Cheese and Pumpkin Pie
If you like the sound of these flavors, they could be yours for a paltry $65 for pints of all 5.
Now, let’s think about this. It makes sense to pair ice cream with Apple Cranberry Stuffing, Sweet Potato Casserole and Maple Pecans and Spiced Goat Cheese and Pumpkin Pie. They are already sweet and they could be passes off as “dessert like”.
However, to pair Buttered Mashed Potatoes and Gravy or Salted Caramel Thanksgiving Turkey just sounds like a recipe for disaster, not a recipe for deliciousness.
Or it could be that it is an “acquired taste”…I’ll go for that.
