As you may or may not have have noticed (or cared), but the cost of Chicken Wings has been climbing to where they are now $0.59 more than they were a couple of months ago.
My wife and I noticed this as we have been known to order wings at a variety of places around Burlington and choke before the wings arrive, because we are now paying anywhere between $0.60 to $1 more PER wing than before.
I decided to do my research on this epidemic (ok, so that may be a bit extreme, but still…). Looks like according to the CEO of WingStop (during an interview on CBS News) “That’s natural in the restaurant business to raise prices as commodity costs increase.”
So it is just the price of business? We want more wings during this time of year, so they have less to sell. Because they have fewer on-hand to sell, then we have to pay more, so they can order more for us to eat. Did I get that right? Yep, the supply and demand paradigm at work, ladies and gentlemen.
The ONLY issue I have with this is the price is going up on Boneless wings, as well. I take issue with this because…BONELESS WINGS ARE NOT MADE OF WING MEAT!!!!! They are made of breast meat!!! Don’t believe me? Click here and see for yourself.
So again, I am back to my original question: Why are Chicken Wing prices skyrocketing, if not all Wings are actually wings?
I know there are bigger issues in the world, but it’s Football season. I want to enjoy the game with wings, but I don’t want to go broke eating them…even if they are fake.
