After two successful years of the Read-a-Book fundraiser, area business owner, Cynthia Schuyler, believes that this year will be bigger and better than the past.
Read-a-Book launches on November 1 and goes through December 31. The new books donated will go to children in the Burlington community in need. All monetary donations are used to purchase new books to fulfill the book list for families in the area. Any additional books and monetary donations, or books that are “more gently used”, will be donated to the Burlington Community Elementary Schools and Head Start libraries.
Read-a-Book is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was created as an education-based fundraiser in November 2010. The passion and drive for this fundraiser comes from Burlington businesswoman Cynthia Schuyler – an advocate for early childhood development education and literacy in the community. Schuyler created this fundraiser to increase area involvement in education and to provide local children in need with new books of their own. Read-a-Book will continue to evolve and adapt as it continues to grow in the coming years.
