Young Guns Shooting Event Sunday

A free shooting sport event is scheduled for Sunday, September 30, at the Gahn Wildlife Refuge in West Burlington from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. These family friendly “Young Guns” events feature shotgun, air rifle and archery shooting led by trained instructors. No experience is necessary to participate and all ages are welcome.

Young Guns shooting events are designed to introduce families to the world of shooting sports in a safe, fun, non-competitive environment.

"The main goal is to have fun," said Chris Lee, DMCC Operations Supervisor. "Whether you're a lifelong shooter or you've never pulled a trigger, these events are for everyone. We have great instructors and some really fun, reactive targets."

The Young Guns program is a cooperative effort between the Aldo Leopold Chapter of Pheasants Forever, Des Moines County Conservation, and 4-H Shooting Sports.

Directions to Gahn Wildlife Refuge: Take Mt. Pleasant Street west of Gear Ave., turn north onto Washington Rd., then north again onto Landfill Rd. (137th Ave.). Refuge entrance is halfway to the landfill gate on the east side of the road.
