It is true, bugs could be in your food and it is completely sanctioned by the FDA.
We have seen cellulose for quite some time listed as an obvious, scientific name of cellulose. (Something we learned about in school) . However, I don’t think we learned what we called bugs by their chemical name.
If you happen to see L.-Cysteine listed on a package of your favorite food, be aware, it is completely safe to consume. The point of it is to enhance the taste of food. It is an amino acid…from duck feathers.
But wait, there’s more. If you like yogurt and list the red flavors like cherry or strawberry, that color is enhanced by Carmine…that is boiled bugs.
