Yes, that is an official Jojo Bow that SHE bought with HER money, because “Jojo would have used her own money”, as I was told. Talk about empowerment.
If you haven’t heard of Jojo Siwa, then you probably don’t have a daughter between 7 and 15. And if you haven’t seen the bows, yet, they are cropping up everywhere…including my home. But if you do know who Jojo Siwa is, you know it’s all about being and empowered young girl, who was just voted Nickelodeon’s Favorite YouTuber for Visual Music Video and Favorite Musical Artist (funny because YouTube claims to not allow anyone under 13…another story for another day). She is all about the big hair bows, party length skirts, lots of sparkle, My Little Pony, a positive attitude and posts day-to-day life videos that girls are addicted to.
As the father of a little girl, Jojo Siwa has overtaken my daughter’s tablet and hair adornments, as you can see
Getting ready to perform at the Kids Choice Awards! Can’t believe it was a week ago already !!!
The amazing part of Jojo Siwa is that she really is a positive role model for girls (unlike the fake Hannah Montana character of Miley Cyrus) who got her start on the TV show Dance Moms, so yes, she dances. She even sings songs, like “Boomerang” (which is a soft-ball anti-bullying song) and soon to have a girl anthem called “Every Girl’s A Supergirl”.
“MeToo is a strong movement in Hollywood, but a lot of my fans and demographic are younger, and they don’t really understand what’s going on with it. I wanted to put something out for them, even for those who are 4 years old, that every girl is a super girl. No matter your age, your height, your weight, your color — whatever you are.” – Jojo Siwa
The expectation is that this young lady will be a household name shortly with her new song, her new affiliation with Mattel who will be making a Jojo Barbie, her accessory line found only at Claires, her clothing line exclusively at JC Penny’s and her inclusion in the video game platform Star Stable. Keep in mind, this 15-year old not only is a strong influence in social causes like the TJ Martell Foundation, but she is a social media monster with 6.5 Instagram followers, 15 million Musical.ly followers, 6 million YouTube subscribers and has over 490 million views of her song “Boomerang”.
With that said, Jojo Siwa’s appeal is positive and she is influencing girls everywhere. The reason I bring her up is, sure, it Jojo Siwa has an influence in my home, but her appeal is about to become something we all will see on TV, online and on our phones very soon.
So, if you have a young lady in the house, ask her what she knows about Jojo Siwa, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Hint for parents: You can find Jojo Siwa on Facebook, but because kids under 13 aren’t allowed to have account on Facebook, you will only find old or lame posts, mostly…oh…and kids aren’t interested in Facebook, just an FYI.
