Three teenagers, Devonte Cafferkey, 13, Sammy Farah, 14, and Shawn Young, 13, were walking home from school when they came across something I’m sure none of their parents wanted them to see…
They were walking across a pedestrian bridge/overpass when they saw a man who was about to jump from the bridge and into the traffic.
The kids tried to talk him down, but he gave them his phone and said not to pick it up if it rings.
The boys didn’t panic though. They stuck with the man, talking to him calmly and assuring him that he should come back over the edge.
At that time, two other adults who saw what was going on, ran over to help. Eventually, they were able to successfully coax the man down from the bridge.
Thankfully, everybody is alright from the situation and Devonte, Sammy, and Shawn are now walking home with special awards. The Royal Humane Society recognized them for help in saving a man’s life.
Their high school, St. Mary’s High School, also honored the three teenagers for extraordinary bravery.
