Brenda Creek is from Florida. Every year for Valentine’s Day, she would get a flower and a love note from her husband and the two would usually go fishing for the day.
Unfortunately, Brenda’s husband, David, died a couple of months ago. So, this would be the first Valentine’s Day that she doesn’t have her best friend, her other half.
Instead, Brenda went to work at her local Waffle House. It was actually her 36th anniversary yesterday.
When she got there, she got quite the surprise.
Everybody decked the place out to celebrate her 36 years! And all day long, people came by the Waffle House and dropped off gifts and flowers and other goodies all for Valentine’s Day. Each one had a specific ‘To Brenda From Your Sweetheart” message on it. She was absolutely blown away by the whole thing.
And the reason this all came about is even more inspiring.
A random guy, name also being David (coincidence?), went into the Waffle House and, obviously, met Brenda. She was probably his server.
The two were talking and Brenda shared her current life situation with him. So David, being a musician and a ministry leader, went on Facebook to post this message.
That’s exactly what people did. What an unbelievable act of selflessness.
Customers are dropping off flowers for Mount Dora Waffle House server Brenda Smith Cheek for Valentine’s Day. Brenda recently lost her husband and was not looking forward to the holiday. She said the flowers were an “amazing” surprise. She’s working until 2 pm if you’d like to leave her a flower.Read our story here: http://bit.ly/2F5eV60
