Where were you 15 years ago today?
Many people were at home, as it was a Saturday, February 1, 2003. Because Space Shuttle launches and landings were regular occurrences, rarely was a landing seen on TV. Because of the day of the week, many people in and around the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas were off that day and knew the shuttle was going to be flying over the area. This was something rarely did anyone got to see, so people went out to look and record the event rarely seen from the ground. Here are some of the tragic videos recorded.
On that fateful day, Rick D. Husband, William C. McCool, Michael P. Anderson, Kalpana Chawla, David M. Brown, Laurel Clark and Ilan Ramon lost their lives during what was supposed to a routine landing.
This disaster was the end of an era. The Space Shuttle program was mothballed shortly after.
