The past 12 months have had a lot of astrological events, specifically when it comes to the moon. We had the solar eclipse last year and now it is time to set the date in the calendar, January 31st. This is the day, you will see the Blood Moon. It is when we will have a Super Moon, Blue Moon and Lunar Eclipse.
Here is definition of what each is:
- Super Moon: which is when the Moon is closest to the Earth and alligned with the Sun in a direct line
- Blue Moon: the 3rd full moon in a 4 astrological moon cycle.
- Lunar Eclipse: when the earth blocks the light of the sun as it shines on the moon
- Blood Moon: this is not, technically, a scientific term, but rather what the appearance of the moon looks like when a lunar eclipse happens.
If you are wanting to catch a glimpse of this rare event, the event will last about 3 hours and begins around 1:48am CST and will completely end around 5:12am. I know it’s a Wednesday night (and a school night), but it could be coolest thing you will see for quite some time. Not to mention, seeing the moon this close will look huge (14% larger) and brighter by about 30% more illuminated than normal.
