You may be saying goodbye to your Bud Lite, your Moscow Mule, your Riesling and your Jack Daniels, as scientists have come to the conclusion that alcohol will become a thing of the past. They are basing this on the same premise that people are quitting smoking and many are exchanging the firestick with vaping.
There is something called Alcosynth, which is starting to pop up in a variety of places. Apparently, it removes the dangers of alcohol on the body…and the accompanying hangover, while having a positive (if not healthy) benefit.
Fear not, it will make you tipsy, so that part of alcohol is still present.
While this Star Trek inspired beverage isn’t readily available, the man who created it, Professor David Nutt, believes that by 2050, alcohol, as we know it, will be a thing of the past. Professor Nutt said the Alcosynth still contains benzodiazepine, which is a key ingredient of alcoholic beverages, so you can mix it with a number of sodas and other alcohols, like you would with gin or scotch.
It remains to be seen if this new cocktail mixer will take off, much less allowed by the Food and Drug Administration, it could prove to have similar hurdles that e-cigarrettes are facing.
So, do you think alcohol is a thing of the past? Or is this just an entrepreneur trying to get attention?
