Mark this one in the history books: Pope Francis married a couple on an airplane!
Thursday morning on a flight from Santiago to Iquique, Chile, the Pope married Bride Paola Podest and Carlos Ciuffardi, two flight attendants on board. This is actually the first time ever that a Pope married a couple in the air.
How did this all come about? Well, I’m sure Pope Francis was on the plane to carry out Pope business things in whatever city … so he was just minding his own business? Evidently, the couple, Paola and Carlos, had planned to marry in a church but there was a nasty earthquake that destroyed it, so that plan was a no-go.
After telling their story to the Pope, he asked if they want to get hitched right then and there. Who would say no to the Pope?!
#PopeFrancis just married during the flight to #Iquique this couple of flight attendants! They were talking with the Pope. They said they didn’t get married in the Church. The Pope asked if we wanted to get married immediately. They said YES! #modopapa pic.twitter.com/9V4Kt4giY8
