That headline isn’t too far fetched. You hear about it all the time, like cloning, gene-splicing, artificial intelligence, etc. have all become reality after we saw them in the movies and TV shows. Think about it, the communication devices on Star Trek are the modern day Smart Phone.
So that leads us to a recent discovery by scientists…ticks embedded in Amber. If you recall, in the original Jurassic Park, they discovered mosquitoes embedded in Amber and they would drill into the amber and extract the blood that the mosquitoes sucked, then blended it with frog DNA to make the dinosaurs that you saw in the movie. (In full disclosure, mosquitoes don’t suck blood, they lay eggs, regardless…onto the story.)
This same scenario has been discovered…with one difference, researchers have found ticks embedded in Amber. As we all know, ticks, in fact, suck blood. So, as common knowledge would have it, the ticks would have some form of dinosaur blood inside their stomachs, hence the DNA necessary for creating new dinosaurs.
No before we all lose our cool and start pointing to the Jurassic Park/World series, keep in mind, the researchers believe that the ticks only fed on feathered animals from the Cretaceous period. And no, they are no Raptors. As a matter of fact, they are called non-raptor species and most aren’t much bigger than a humming bird.
So far, there is no talk of bringing these creatures back to life, however, this is all new information and as we have seen in the movies and throughout history, what was Science Fiction can become reality. The question is, how long before these animals re-inhabit our ecosystem
