Statistics so far from Black Friday have shown that there was over $20 Billion spent on holiday shopping…yes, I repeat $20 Billion (with a “B”). Even Small Business Saturday showed an uptick to $6 Billion spent.
So while the previous few years of soft holiday shopping are now being seen in the rear view mirror, there was one item that topped the list as the most sought after holiday gift of 2017.
Best guesses have been, Large Screen TVs, Barbie, Hatchimals, iPhoneX and Netflix subscriptions. While all of those are valiant guesses…they are all…WRONG!!!!
This next hint will probably give it all away.
The FBI did over 200,000 background checks.
Yep, you guesses it, the personal fire arm was the top gift of Black Friday shoppers. The information coming from the FBI has said that 203,086 firearm background checks were done on Black Friday, alone. That makes it no only the largest number of background checks in one day, but it also makes Black Friday the largest sales day ever for firearms manufacturers.
Looks like the Fish and Wildlife Department will be seeing a lot of licenses and tags being purchased and firearms classes being taken in 2018.
