When you are a kid, you see people putting tomatoes on their salad and you assumed that it was a vegetable. Until one day, someone taught you that it is a fruit. While, as a kid, that information rocked your world.

Fast forward to adulthood.
I am many years past my childhood and have children of my own. So, I am confused on how I missed this one. With Thanksgiving coming up and the family will be sitting down to dinner together, the question of who is bring the vegetables and who is bring the fruit will inevitably come up in someone’s home. But this creates a problem that I have just learned.
If I bring the green beans and signed up to bring vegetables and my sister is bringing strawberries because she signed up to bring fruits, have we created a problem for the family?
You see, according to botanists, green beans are really a fruit and strawberries are really a vegetable.
I know, in my 40+ years of life, I had suspected that strawberries were a veggie, but green beans a fruit?!?!?!?!
So I find myself now on the quest to find the truth. Thankfully, God created YouTube to help me suss out my issues.
So, all this time, I have been lied to by my local family grocer? Or has my favorite grocery store gotten it wrong all these years because they didn’t know?
BTW, I am a Biology Minor from college and I had no idea.
So, as for the pest question about my sister bringing strawberries…
