Many of us have had jobs that suck and would like to quit in a blaze of glory. Most of us who have had that desire, never do it, because we don’t want it to follow us and prevent us from getting another job.
Well, let’s say you were the boss and owned the company, you got tired of doing your job and working with the people you employ. Well, there was one guy who had this feeling and did something about it.
Meet Sydney Hardy of of Britain. He owned a bus company…notice I said “owned”, as in past tense. Here is what happened.
Sydney, owned a bus company that supplied rides to local schools and colleges for the past 13 years. Things seemed to be going well, employees seemed happy, customers seemed happy, until one email was sent by Sydney. Read for yourself. It is quite entertaining.
Nothing says, I’m done than “I’m quitting to pursue my dream of not having to work here.”
Unfortunately, this put a number of people out of work, obviously. But it also put a lot of people without transportation to and from the schools and colleges that they are contracted with. Those schools and colleges had to quickly find a new company. To say that people were “in shock”, as one driver put it, is to be mild. I tend to think there were also a few people who were mad, as well.
The back story is that the owner hadn’t told everyone that the company had been struggling since 2011, when he lost a number of drivers to a competitor. So, this wasn’t his reason may not be as sound as he told everyone, but he kept it from everyone, so it did come as a shock to everyone else.
