Alex Wubbles, if you recall, was the nurse in Utah that was arrested, back at the end of August, for upholding her hospital’s policy and the law that prevented a Salt Lake police officer from drawing blood from a comatose patient.
As a reminder:
As of today, Alex Wubbles has been awarded $500,000 from the city of Salt Lake and the Salt Lake police department. In a move that you might expect from a caregiver, like Alex, she is donating portion of the money to a couple of causes:
- She is creating a fund to help people legally get body camera footage of incidents they are involved in, when it is not readily available or being withheld. (Her lawyers have said will provide free legal services)
- She is donating to a campaign called #EndNurseAbuse with the American Nurses Association
Along with the monetary award, she was give an apology, a chance to speak and the Salt Lake Police Department has changed their policy on drawing blood.
