The name alone sounds ominous, but Hematohidrosis is a real thing. It used to be a rare thing, but now it is increasingly more diagnosed across the world. The condition is where women sweat blood. This sounds serious, and it is still a medical mystery.
Why this happens isn’t very well known, but the studies have shown that stress may be a partial reason. Many women see this as an embarrassing situation and many times won’t talk about it so it goes unreported and untreated.
So how did Hematohidrisis come to the forefront? Medical journals, like the US National Library of Medicine, have been writing about it for a little over 10 years and one of them took note that there have been 28 cases recognized in the past 13 years, which is a considerable increase from previous studies in over the past 30 years.
There is help through medicine, but it doesn’t cure the condition, unfortunately. However, the bright side is, there is research being done to find a cure. Maybe in our lifetime we will see a cure.
