A Florida couple had made, what seemed to be, a normal purchase of plastic tubs. The deal was good, so why not, right?
As it turns out, it was a bit more of a “bargain” than they bargained for. When they tubs arrived, they were a bit heavier than they expected…like by a lot…65 pounds, to be exact. And they said the package had a really bad smell, so they knew something wasn’t right.
Upon further inspection, these tubs were shipped from Massachusetts to Orlando Florida, but that isn’t so odd, as Amazon has lots of vendors all over the world. However, when they opened up the packages, they found 65 pounds of marijuana that they didn’t order. Their order, as they learned has a street value of $200,000…and oh, by the way, marijuana is illegal in the state of Florida, however, marijuana is legal in Massachusetts. (Massachusetts is one of 8 states where pot is legal for recreational use.)
They couple immediately did what they should have done, call the police. The last thing they wanted was for someone to turn them in, or to have their house broken into for someone to try and grab the illegal substance.
As you would expect, the couple contacted Amazon for this situation to be rectified, only to be given the runaround for the better part of a month. At the end of it all, they got a $150 Amazon gift card, but no apology. The only response that Amazon gave the couple though all of this was an email stating:
“I am unable to do anything else at this time,”
The case is still being investigated.
Can you imagine?
