Every week for 12 years David Deutchman has come to cuddle with babies in the ICU for the past 12 years to whisper words of encouragement to the tiniest of babies. He holds the babies whose parents can’t be with them on that day at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
David came to notoriety over the past because of one mother who took a picture of him holding one of her baby boys in the NICU, who had been there for 6 weeks and the mother, Kristen Brown Webber, had to leave at night, she returned to find Mr. Duetchman holding her son and snapped the pic which was posted on the hospital’s Facebook page and has collected over 9,000 comments of love and encouragement, many from from parents who have experienced the same thing.
One quotes included:
“He rocked out baby for countless hours. What a wonderful gift he has, and what a blessing it is that he shares that love with others”
Even David’s daughter joined in the accolades
“I’ve known David as a Special man for 53 years – he is my dad! To rad the thousands of comments and see the outpouring of affection is very moving to our entire family”.
