You would think that someone who deals with money at a bank would be more responsible. After all, they have to have a background check and the cameras all over the place would keep you honest. And to be upfront, most people who work in banks are very decent people who do a great job and there is always that one bad apple.
This bad apple’s name is Phelan Davis. She has plead guilty stealing $185,000 from…wait for it…a homeless man over the course of 3 years.
I am sure you are scratching your head on this one.
Seems as though this homeless man showed up at the bank with a trash bag filled with cash to deposit. As Ms. Davis found out, the homeless man had a very large balance already with the bank. He had let some of them go dormant, so to prevent this from happening again, Ms. Davis set up an ATM card, and email link to allow the man to get his money…except on problem…the email and ATM card was controlled by Phelan Davis, who proceeded to siphon money from the account.
Karma stepped in and Ms. Davis is now behind bars awaiting trial.
