With all this craze about the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks that turns out every year, and the fact that almost any company that can make a ‘pumpkin spice’ product will do so, I truly believed that it was just a natural addiction.
Turns out it totally is! It’s real.
Most people can agree that autumn is a beautiful season. The leaves changing on trees and eventually falling to the ground. We typically associate the happiness this beauty gives us with pumpkin spice. The two just correlate.
Dr. Michelle Moore is a psychologist at LSU Health New Orleans, she says it “…usually reminds you of something happy, or pleasurable … for some people, pumpkin spice is associated with fall, and makes other associations to happy memories.”
