I can answer that…a Canadian song writer who is claiming copyright infringement for the song “Something in the Water” from Carrie’s Greatest Hits album.
Carrie isn’t alone in being sued, as they also listed the co-writers of the song and the song’s producers.
According the lawsuit, after giving Carrie Underwood’s organization a demo of the song, they never heard back, until they heard the song on Carrie’s Greatest Hits album.
Not to let this slide by Carrie Underwood’s lawyers and management shot back quickly that the song was inspired by her faith and was, in fact, written by Carrie and a number of other writers, who are credited on the song.
Unfortunately, the demo isn’t available for comparisons, right now, but we an still enjoy “Something in the Water” in the meantime.
