Do we subject hurricanes to gender bias? A new study shows people generally underestimate the power of a hurricane given a female name. For example, Category 5 Hurricane Stephanie is not as bad as Category 5 Hurricane Steven.
That’s really the way we see it.
Since people underestimate how much damage the hurricane can, and will, eventually do, more people end up dying in hurricanes that are named female.
